UVI Falcon 2027: Four New Oscillators at $149
UVI Falcon 2027 adds four oscillators, ten effects, and a Data Envelope. The intro price is $149 from $299, and registered owners get the update free.

UVI has shipped Falcon 2027, a free update for registered owners and a $149 introduction for new licences. The version adds four oscillators, ten effects, a modulator that draws its shape from audio, and 100 new presets, inside an instrument that already spans synthesis and sampling. This is a first look based on the official UVI product page, not a hands-on review.
At a glance: Falcon 2027 is UVI's hybrid instrument, running standalone or as VST, VST3, AU, and AAX. The factory set is 28 oscillators (18 synthesis, 10 sampling), 120+ effects, 14 modulation generators, 1,700+ presets, and 500+ wavetables. New this version: West Folder, FM Explorer, Spectral Stretch, MultiSample, a Data Envelope, and a Module TreeView. Licensing is iLok, with three activations per licence. The intro price is $149 / €149, down from $299, and a new licence includes a $100 / €100 soundware voucher.
What Falcon is
Falcon is not a single synth voice with a fixed signal path. UVI built it as a semi-modular environment: oscillators, effects, modulators, and event processors, layered without a preset cap on how many you stack. You are limited by the computer, not by a slot count. That is why it sits next to workstations such as Omnisphere 3 more often than next to a focused wavetable instrument.
The engine underneath is UVI Engine XT. It streams samples from disk, runs native 64-bit, supports MPE, and handles channel layouts up to 10.2 at sample rates to 192 kHz. Falcon also hosts UVI and UVI-powered libraries, so a licence is a doorway into expansions from UVI and partners, not only the factory presets.
Version 2027 does not replace that architecture. It adds generators and effects people were building around, and it cleans up how you see a patch. Updates stay free for registered users, which is the line that matters if you already own Falcon.
Four new oscillators
UVI's what's-new line is specific. Falcon 2027 delivers four new oscillators, from the vintage-inspired West Folder to Spectral Stretch, plus ten effects and a modulator that draws its shape from audio, shown across 100 new presets.
West Folder builds a West Coast voice in one oscillator. Symmetry, Timbre, Order, and Round shape the wave. A built-in modulator applies FM or AM. A lowpass gate then contours tone and level, in automatic or manual mode, with velocity sensitivity available in auto.
FM Explorer is a macro-driven three-operator FM engine. Shift sets the relationship between operators, and you morph continuously between series and parallel. Depth, Warp, Feedback, Shape, Balance, and Ring Mod tune the result. The point is playable FM, not an operator matrix you have to redraw for every move.
Spectral Stretch is a phase-vocoder oscillator that streams from disk and separates pitch from time. Phase modes run from loose and airy to fully coherent. Transient preservation adds punch on sustained sounds, percussion, and evolving textures.
MultiSample maps zones across key and velocity, rotates alternates with round robins, and morphs across velocity layers. Per-zone crossfades smooth the velocity fade, so layered recordings respond continuously across the keyboard. If your other sampler's multisample editor still feels unfinished, this is the oscillator to compare it with. Serum 2 already has a multisample engine, and it is the youngest part of that instrument.
The rest of the oscillator list is still there: Analog, Analog Stack, the four-operator FM oscillator, wavetable, SupraSaw, the circuit-modeled 808 bass drum, IRCAM granular and stretch, Slice, and the sample workhorse that streams large libraries. Falcon's pitch is that you layer them. A West Folder transient into a Spectral Stretch tail is a patch, not a workaround.
Ten effects, a Data Envelope, and TreeView
The ten new effects cover the jobs a West Coast and studio patch usually leaves the rack for:
- Lowpass Gate
- Wavefolder
- FET Compressor
- Feedforward Compressor
- Multimode Steiner Filter
- Passive EQ
- Analog BBD Delay
- Analog BBD Chorus
- Spectrogram analyzer
- Loudness Meter, reading LUFS
The Feedforward Compressor is a single design that compresses or expands, with separate low and high segments, Peak or RMS detection, auto makeup, and a mix control. It is a dynamics module inside the instrument, not a reason to leave Falcon for a channel strip.
Data Envelope is the new modulator. It turns a sample's pitch, RMS, peak, or brightness into modulation curves, then drives other parameters in the patch. Loop it for repeating motion, or smooth it for gentler transitions. Falcon now lists 14 modulation generators, and Data Envelope is one of them, alongside the envelopes, LFOs, and step tools that were already there.
Workflow changes are smaller and more daily. Module TreeView shows the patch structure at a glance. A new oscillator picker uses category filters and icon tiles. Editors were redesigned with responsive displays, freehand drawing, and live editing. If the browser was the part of Falcon that slowed a session down, TreeView and the new picker are the part of 2027 aimed at that.

Intro price, and who should upgrade
The original element here is the buy-or-skip call, with the intro price written out per store. UVI's own price is $149 / €149, down from $299. Registered users update for free. A new licence includes a $100 / €100 voucher toward UVI soundware.
| Store | Price now | Compared with | Through |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plugin Boutique | $149 | $299 | 31 October 2026 |
| Best Service | $149 / €149, excl. VAT | $299 / €299 | 26 October 2026 |
| Thomann | £128 incl. VAT | £258, the 30-day best price | 25 October 2026 |
Thomann's listing is titled UVI Falcon. The selling price is £128 including VAT, set against a 30-day best price of £258, on the software deal through 25 October 2026. A Falcon licence is the instrument that receives the 2027 update, so the Thomann download is the same product line, at a VAT-inclusive sterling price rather than the US intro.
Upgrade if you already own Falcon. The update is free, and the four oscillators plus Data Envelope are the reason to install it even if you never buy another expansion.
Buy the intro if you want one environment for wavetable, FM, sampling, granular, and West Coast folding, and you will actually open the edit view. At $149, with a $100 voucher, the first expansion is partly prepaid. Best Service and Plugin Boutique both print $149. The Best Service end date is 26 October. Plugin Boutique's is 31 October. Buy where the calendar and the currency fit.
Skip it if you want a fast preset instrument and you will not patch. Omnisphere 3 is the broader ready-made library, at $479 full or $199 to upgrade. Skip it if your job is one wavetable lane you can see at a glance: Serum 2 is $249 and stays the clearer teaching synth. Skip it if you want to invent the signal path from empty modules and you already live in Phase Plant at $199. Falcon's learning curve is still the cost that the sale does not discount.
Falcon 2027 vs other hybrid instruments
| Falcon 2027 | Serum 2 | Phase Plant | Omnisphere 3 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Role | Hybrid synth and sampler | Wavetable-first, five engines | Semi-modular generators | Preset workstation |
| Oscillators | 28 types, layer freely | 3 slots, five engine types | Generators you drag in | Hybrid engine, huge library |
| New hook | West Folder, FM Explorer, Spectral Stretch, MultiSample | Multisample, granular, spectral | Snapin effects rack | 26,000+ patches, FX Rack |
| Presets | 1,700+ factory, plus expansions | 626+ | Factory library, then you build | 26,000+ |
| Price | $149 intro (from $299) | $249 | $199 | $479 full, $199 upgrade |
| Owners | Free 2027 update | Serum 1 owners get version 2 | Full price unless bundled | $199 from version 2 |
Falcon wins when the patch needs a sampler and a synth in the same program, with scripting and effects in the patch rather than on the mixer. Serum 2 wins when the wavetable editor is the instrument. Phase Plant wins when you want the architecture to be the patch, and you accept the Snapin ecosystem as part of the spend. Omnisphere wins when the session needs a finished cinematic sound before lunch. Pigments 6, at $199, is the other multi-engine flagship in that conversation, with wavetable, virtual analog, and granular engines in one Arturia instrument.

FAQ
Is Falcon 2027 a paid upgrade?
No, for registered users. UVI ships version updates free. New licences are on intro pricing at $149 / €149, down from $299, and include a $100 / €100 soundware voucher.
What actually changed in version 2027?
Four oscillators (West Folder, FM Explorer, Spectral Stretch, MultiSample), ten effects, the Data Envelope modulator, 100 new presets, Module TreeView, a new oscillator picker, and redesigned editors. The instrument total is 28 oscillators, 120+ effects, and 1,700+ presets.
Which formats and operating systems does it support?
Standalone, VST, VST3, AU, and AAX. UVI lists Windows 10 and 11, and macOS 10.14 through macOS 15, on Intel and ARM. Sample rates go to 192 kHz, with channel layouts up to 10.2 and MPE.
How does licensing work?
iLok, with three activations per licence, on a hard drive or a dongle. A dongle is optional.
Should I buy Falcon or a narrower synth?
Buy Falcon if you will use more than one synthesis method and you want sampling in the same patch. Buy Serum 2, Phase Plant, or Pigments if you already know the one method you need and you do not want Falcon's patch depth. Buy Omnisphere if the library, not the oscillator list, is the product.
