RANE SYSTEM ONE now works with djay Pro on a Mac, PC, iPhone or iPad. What Engine OS 5.2.0 adds, how to set it up, what it costs and what's still undocumented.
RANE SYSTEM ONE owners have waited since January for this. On September 22, 2026, Engine OS 5.2.0 and djay 5.6.9 added djay Pro as an OmniSource option on the unit. The integration includes native display support on SYSTEM ONE's own touchscreen.
One box now runs three ways: Engine DJ standalone, Serato DJ Pro from a computer, and djay. djay is also the first software source on SYSTEM ONE that runs from a phone or tablet, with iPhone and iPad hosts joining Mac and Windows.

SYSTEM ONE is RANE's all-in-one standalone DJ system, and RANE bills it as the world's first with motorized platters. Two 7.2-inch aluminum platters flank a 7-inch vertical touchscreen and a two-channel mixer, with eight RGB pads under each platter. It's the first RANE product with Engine DJ on board, the operating system Denon DJ's PRIME units also run, and RANE aims it at open-format and scratch DJs.

How OmniSource works
OmniSource is the architecture SYSTEM ONE is built around: USB sticks, SD cards, the optional internal drive, streaming services and computer software all sit side by side as sources. Engine DJ stays in charge, and djay joins that list.
Engine DJ says you can move between USB, SD, streaming and djay without interrupting your workflow. Serato DJ Pro, the other software source, goes a step further: inMusic says each deck can play from a different source at the same time.

RANE's launch press release promised Serato and djay in early 2026. Serato made it in February, but djay took until late September, about eight months after the unit went on sale. As of September 23, RANE's FAQ still lists djay support as "anticipated", which is stale wording rather than a sign the update is missing.
What djay brings to SYSTEM ONE
A host device runs djay
djay runs on a connected Mac, Windows PC, iPhone or iPad, not on the unit itself. SYSTEM ONE supplies the controls, the audio and the display. Android isn't part of this integration, and Algoriddim's hardware page doesn't list Windows on Arm for SYSTEM ONE either.
That hardware page is also where SYSTEM ONE stands out. It's the only current all-in-one on Algoriddim's list that covers Mac, Windows and iOS without an unsupported-feature footnote. The XDJ-AZ, AlphaTheta's XDJ-AN, OMNIS-DUO and Opus Quad all carry a footnote saying djay doesn't support their screens on iOS, and Denon's PRIME units are flagged for no screen support. Pioneer's XDJ-RX3 has no footnote, but it's listed for Mac and Windows only.
What you control from the unit
RANE's official video shows the workflow: you browse the djay library, open playlists and load tracks, then use pad modes, Neural Mix stems and djay's software effects from the hardware.
Neural Mix, Spotify and streaming
Neural Mix, djay's real-time AI separation of beats, instruments and vocals, is part of the official walkthrough, so you can work with stems from the unit. It can't be used on music streamed from Apple Music or Spotify. RANE and djay have history here: in February 2021, djay Pro AI brought Neural Mix, with dedicated hardware controls, to the RANE ONE, SEVENTY and TWELVE MKII.
Spotify isn't an onboard Engine DJ service on SYSTEM ONE. RANE's launch press release routed it through software sources, naming Serato DJ and djay. djay supports Spotify Premium on iPhone, iPad, Mac and PC, with the mobile apps added in version 5.6 in December 2025. That should make djay one route to Spotify on the unit, as promised in January, while Serato DJ Pro is the other, confirmed by inMusic in February.
Spotify tracks lose Neural Mix, recording, library analysis and Match (djay's track recommendations) in djay, and there's no offline or lossless playback. djay's usual plan rules still apply: Spotify Premium, a TIDAL Individual plan with DJ Extension, SoundCloud Go+, and Beatport Advanced or Professional. Algoriddim hasn't confirmed which of those services work on SYSTEM ONE specifically.
Better platter behavior in djay 5.6.9
djay 5.6.9 also improves motorized controllers in general, with better 45 RPM support, improved cue-point jumping while scratching and during spin-down, and reverse playback that no longer affects pitch. They aren't SYSTEM ONE exclusives, but scratch DJs on motorized platters will notice them most.

- A new Fader FX Trigger setting picks the crossfader, the channel faders or both.
- Engine Stem Pad FX and Serato Software FX can run at the same time.
- macOS latency creep in long sessions is fixed when SYSTEM ONE works as a computer audio interface.
- Fixes cover missing rekordbox-imported tags, lost Wi-Fi passwords, Continue Mode on motorized-platter devices and TIDAL tracks unloading.
How to set up djay Pro on RANE SYSTEM ONE
There's no written setup guide from RANE or Algoriddim yet. These steps come from the official video and the two release announcements.
- Update the unit to Engine OS 5.2.0. Connect SYSTEM ONE to Wi-Fi and update over the air. Or download it from Engine DJ's downloads page, select RANE SYSTEM ONE, and update from a computer or USB drive.
- Update djay to 5.6.9 or later on the host. Algoriddim said it should reach app stores within 24 to 48 hours of September 22.
- Connect to the USB-C computer port. It's the unit's only computer port, and a locking USB-C cable comes in the box. RANE's Serato guide says to skip hubs and adapters. That's a sensible default for djay too, though neither company has said yet how older Lightning iPhones and iPads should connect.
- Pick djay as the source and browse your djay library from the unit.

Engine DJ is the laptop-free option, while Serato suits an existing Serato library (the software's recent change of owners is covered in Serato's ownership shake-up). Choose djay if your library already lives there, or if you want to host from an iPhone or iPad.

The closest rivals are AlphaTheta's XDJ-AZ and Denon DJ's PRIME 4 G2, which also runs Engine DJ.

The older PRIME 4+ works with djay as a computer-mode controller only. Algoriddim's list notes no screen support there, plus deck 3 and 4 limits on some platforms, and it has no OmniSource.
Which to pick comes down to platters and channel count. RANE calls SYSTEM ONE the first all-in-one standalone with motorized platters, and neither rival's page mentions motorized jogs. If two channels are enough, it's also the only unit here running Engine, Serato and djay today. The XDJ-AZ suits four-deck DJs in the rekordbox world and already works with djay, though its screen isn't supported on iOS. The PRIME 4 G2 is the four-deck Engine DJ pick with a published price, but its software sources are still coming soon. Heading toward club gear? Weigh whether the CDJ-3000 is still worth it too.
How much RANE SYSTEM ONE and djay PRO cost
RANE doesn't publish a price on its product page, and retailer pricing varies by region. Check current pricing for RANE SYSTEM ONE at Thomann.

- Serato DJ Pro: unlocked free when the unit is plugged into the software.
- djay: a free download, with PRO at $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the US and a 7-day free trial with full access. One subscription covers macOS, iOS, Windows and Android when you sign in with a djay account.
Algoriddim says support for its complete controller list requires PRO. Neither RANE nor Algoriddim says SYSTEM ONE unlocks djay PRO the way it unlocks Serato. Plan on the subscription and use the trial to test first.
If you don't need the standalone side, the RANE ONE MKII is a cheaper djay-compatible way to get motorized RANE platters.
What isn't documented yet
No official source answers these questions yet:
- Does djay run two decks only, or four?
- Do the Stems, Instant Acapella and Instrumental buttons and the Stem Level EQ drive Neural Mix?
- Do Engine's onboard FX work on djay decks, or only djay's own effects?
- Can one deck play djay while the other plays USB or streaming? Serato can on SYSTEM ONE, but Engine DJ's djay wording only promises switching without interruption.
- Can djay see the internal drive or the unit's USB and SD media?
- Do Engine Lighting and SoundSwitch keep running with djay?
- How should an iPhone or iPad connect, and do older Lightning devices need an adapter?
- Can two hosts connect at once through the single computer port?
- Is the iOS version on par with Mac and Windows?
- Do djay beatgrids and cues carry over to Engine for standalone sets?
Run the video's workflow end to end, then check stems, effects, cueing and source switching before a booking.
How owners are reacting so far
First-hand reports are still thin a day after release, and most read as relief after a wait that stretched well past Serato's February arrival. The on-unit screen gets the most attention, along with the appeal of a phone or iPad as a host parked off to the side. Serato's integration is the yardstick, and owners will judge djay on touchscreen browsing and search, OLED pad labels, stem status and how a source switch affects both decks. The main gripe is the wait itself, plus product pages that kept saying "coming" long after Serato shipped.
Who should jump in, and who should wait
Good fit:
- djay-first DJs who wanted motorized platters without switching software.
- iPad and iPhone DJs, since djay is the first SYSTEM ONE software source that runs on iOS.
- Spotify users, who can only reach Spotify on SYSTEM ONE through a software source (without Neural Mix on those tracks).
- Scratch and open-format DJs, who also get the 5.6.9 platter fixes.
- Mixed-source DJs who want Engine's USB, SD and streaming plus a software library in one session.
Wait or skip:
- Android DJs. There's no Android support.
- Laptop-free purists. Engine DJ covers that, and djay always needs a host.
- Four-deck mixers. SYSTEM ONE has two channels. Look at the XDJ-AZ, the PRIME 4 G2 or our standalone DJ controller picks.
- Happy Serato users. For them, djay mainly adds iOS hosting.

Going by Algoriddim's own footnotes, SYSTEM ONE is the only current standalone where djay drives the unit's screen from an iPhone or iPad as well as from a computer. For djay DJs, that means motorized RANE platters with the unit's own screen in the loop, even when the set runs from a phone. The pairing also landed about eight months after the unit went on sale, and key details are still undocumented. If djay is home base, update both sides and rehearse the video's workflow before your next set. If Engine or Serato already covers you, there's no reason to switch.
