Detunicorn is UJAM's free, single-purpose hypersaw synth, released as a limited-time giveaway. The engine is narrow on purpose: two supersaw oscillators, a sub oscillator and up to four unison layers, shaped by six macro controls rather than a full panel of parameters.
Those controls are Big, Detune, Sub, Bend, Bite and Infinity. Big and Detune set the width and spread of the stacked saws, Sub adds low-end weight, Bend and Bite add movement and edge, and Infinity is a spatial reverb built for the instrument. The result is the oversized, detuned chord-and-lead sound that runs through hyperpop, digicore and dance pop.
It installs through the UJAM App in VST2, VST3, AU2 and AAX, on Windows 10-11 and macOS Big Sur through Tahoe, on both Intel and Apple silicon. The catch is the clock: UJAM frames it as a free digital collectible available for 666 hours. Download and activate inside that window and the plugin stays yours; miss it and the giveaway closes.
Next to a dedicated paid rival like SuperStarSaw or general-purpose synths such as Vital and Serum 2, Detunicorn trades depth for speed and price. The full first look is in our Detunicorn feature.
