GForce Sequential Prophet~5 is the first Prophet-5 softsynth built under official Sequential license. That matters historically: for years the software market was filled with inspired-by recreations, while hardware Rev differences stayed tribal knowledge. Here the Rev1/Rev2 SSM and Rev3 Curtis filter and envelope characters are explicit product features, backed by Sequential branding and the original 1978 factory set.
It excels as a musical poly analog voice, not only a museum piece. Dual Layer modes (Layer, Split, Alternate) stack or split programs with independent arpeggiators and chord modes. Newly redesigned X-Modifiers assign envelopes and LFOs to almost every parameter, so pads evolve without leaving the instrument. Two effect slots plus delay, reverb, and pan spread finish patches inside the plugin, and full MPE support suits expressive controllers.
The trade-off is overlap. Arturia Prophet-5 V already lives in many V Collection installs at a similar price band, and u-he Repro-5 remains a serious rival for pure analog tone. GForce's dual-layer and FX depth can feel busier than a five-voice panel purist wants. At roughly $120 full price it is fair for an official recreation, but owners of strong alternatives should demo carefully.
