Topline Vocal Tune is Universal Audio's native pitch-correction plugin aimed at modern vocal production. The design priority is clear: hear tuned vocals while tracking with ultra-low latency, then dial from subtle natural correction to the hard-tuned colors common in hip-hop, R&B, and pop. It runs without Apollo or UAD-2 DSP, which puts it in the same shopping cart as Auto-Tune and Waves Tune rather than hardware-locked UAD classics.
It excels as a tracking and style tool. Elastic, Expressive, and Sustain controls target different performance shapes so slides and vibrato do not always get flattened. Shift mode opens pitch and formant moves for creative doubles. MIDI Repitch turns a voice into a playable harmony source, and Topline Key Finder reduces setup friction when the session key is unknown. That combination is strong for topline writers and vocal producers who live in real time.
The trade-offs are depth and competition. Melodyne still wins for graphical, note-level offline editing. Auto-Tune Pro remains the cultural default for many genres and has a larger ecosystem of Graph mode workflows. At about $99 perpetual, Topline is priced to try, but Spark subscribers may already access a wider native set.
Choose Topline when you want UA-native low-latency tuning with modern hard-tune options. Choose Auto-Tune for industry-standard vocal branding, Waves Tune Real-Time for a lighter alternative, or Melodyne when detailed editing is the job. Our Topline article covers the June 2026 launch feature set.
