Musik Hack released Master Plan 2 on 28 October 2026, the second generation of its all-in-one mastering plugin. The original built a following on one idea. Put a single plugin on your output bus, push one big Loud control, and get a finished master without a long processing chain. Version 2 keeps that one-window approach and rebuilds almost everything behind it, from the limiter to the metering. This is a paid upgrade, not a free update.

At a glance: Master Plan 2 is an all-in-one mastering plugin in AAX, AU and VST3 formats for macOS 11 or later and Windows 10 or later. It adds a redesigned limiting architecture, a new Optimal Loudness Meter, reworked saturation and EQ, a full metering overhaul, and reference-track comparison with loudness-matched bypass. It costs $179 at launch ($249 regular), with a $60 upgrade for existing Master Plan owners.

What is Master Plan?

Master Plan is Musik Hack's one-plugin mastering tool. The pitch is speed and simplicity. You put it on the master bus, push a few controls, and get a loud, finished-sounding master without stacking separate EQ, compression, saturation and limiting plugins. It earned a following among producers who master their own tracks and want fast results over a mastering engineer's full toolkit.

Master Plan 2 doesn't change that identity. It still presents as a single screen with a few large controls. The processing underneath is where the work went, along with workflow tools that push it closer to a reference-grade master without adding clutter.

What's new in Master Plan 2

A rebuilt limiter. The big change is a redesigned limiting architecture. Musik Hack says it preserves the shape of the waveform, so you can push for more loudness while keeping transients, low end and character intact. A new Optimal Loudness Meter reads the mix in real time and shows whether you sit in a safe range, approach the sweet spot, or push into over-limiting. Two tools sit alongside it. Presence adds two frequency-adaptive release algorithms that give the limiter bite or soften its feel. Body brings quieter elements forward to raise perceived density.

Cleaner loudness processing. True Peak handling is improved, described as more transparent with more usable loudness. Oversampling is higher quality with minimal overshoot. An advanced anti-aliasing stage blends oversampling with ADAA, so it needs no compensation filters. For a plugin built to get loud without damage, these are the details that count.

Reworked saturation and color. The saturation section is fully overhauled. Aura dials Master Plan's signature color up or down. Silk adds analog-style high-frequency sheen. Target Your Saturation blends four flavors, including the signature Thick circuit, with minimal phase distortion. Tape Intensity gives independent control over the amount and flavor of tape saturation, and Glow adds cohesion so a mix feels more connected.

A custom EQ and smarter dynamics. The EQ is custom-refined, with Low, Mid and High circuits built for natural phase and accurate response. Dynamic Calm uses resonance-suppressing dynamic filters to tame harshness and buildup while keeping phase distortion low. The Multipressor gets a near-linear-phase crossover and no pre-ringing. A Wide control with a goniometer handles stereo width while holding phase coherence.

A full metering overhaul. New Gain, Spectral, EQ and Imaging views arrive, described as professional and customizable. The first Master Plan gave you a loud master but little insight into what it was doing. Proper metering is a real step up.

Workflow tools that respect the one-window idea. Reference Comparisons let you drop in a track and match it against your master, with automatic beat detection to help loop sections. Legacy Mode switches to the full Master Plan 1 signal chain for anyone who prefers it. Low Latency Mode swaps every circuit for a low-latency version for tracking or live use. Auto Input Leveling sets the optimal input level, and a latency-compensated bypass with LUFS-matched unity keeps A and B comparisons fair. You can save up to three snapshots, automate between them, or compare variations blind.

Master Plan 2 vs iZotope Ozone 12

The obvious rival is iZotope Ozone, the other plugin that fits a whole master in one window. The two take different routes. Master Plan runs on speed and feel, while Ozone 12 Standard is modular and analysis-led.

Ozone offers more surgical control and a guided assistant, which suits engineers who like to open every stage. Master Plan 2 is for producers who want a strong master in minutes and trust their ears over menus. For the wider field, including FabFilter Pro-L 2, see our best mastering plugins of 2026.

Who Master Plan 2 is for

Master Plan 2 suits producers and self-releasing artists who master their own music and want a fast, confident result. If the original already sits on your master bus, version 2 is a clear step up in limiter quality, metering and reference workflow, and the $60 upgrade keeps it reasonable. The new saturation and EQ sections also make it a capable light tone-shaping stage, not just a loudness tool. To go deeper on the color side, pair it with our best saturation plugins of 2026.

Dedicated mastering engineers who already own a modular suite may not need it. Anyone who prefers to build a chain from separate EQ, compressor and limiter plugins will find the single window too restrictive. Newcomers on a tight budget should also weigh the regular $249 price against the intro offer.

How much does Master Plan 2 cost?

Master Plan 2 is $179 during its introductory promotion, down from a regular $249. Existing owners can upgrade for $60. Both the full version and the upgrade include a rent-to-own option paid over 12 months. It installs as an AAX, AU or VST3 plugin on macOS 11 or later and Windows 10 or later, and a free trial is available.

Verdict

Master Plan 2 is a careful rebuild rather than a reinvention. It protects what made the original popular, the speed and the one-window simplicity, while fixing its biggest gaps: a stronger limiter, real metering and a proper reference workflow. The reworked saturation and EQ widen what it can do without turning it into a module maze, and Legacy Mode means nobody loses the sound they already rely on. At $179, and $60 for existing owners, it is a sensible upgrade for producers who master their own tracks and value feel over fine control. Engineers who want to shape every stage will still prefer a modular suite, but for fast, loud, musical masters this is a strong release.
