fedDSP quadCHO two-section chorus with REACT, SPACE, SWIRL, and a centre MIX, DEPTH, and TILT panel

fedDSP sells quadCHO as a modern chorus. Two independent sections sit on one window. Each one has rate, depth, detune, phase, pan, and level. Then the shop adds REACT, SPACE, SWIRL, WEAVE, and QUAD. The intro price is £35 against a £75 regular.

At a glance: £35 intro / £75 regular. AU, AAX, and VST3 on Mac. VST3 and AAX on Windows. Apple Silicon and Intel native. Zero latency. Buy it from feddsp.com.

This is a first look at the shipping plugin and the official product page. We have not run quadCHO in a session yet.

What quadCHO is

quadCHO starts from chorus and then keeps going. The official line is a modulation playground for lush width, unstable movement, evolving textures, and controlled chaos. It can sit as a soft stereo lift. It can also become the sound.

That is a wider job than a one-path analogue chorus. Syntorus 2 is D16's triple-path chorus: thickness, character, done. UVI Thorus XT is a dual-engine chorus, digital Thorus plus analog BBD. Valhalla Space Modulator is a free, focused modulator. quadCHO keeps two full sections live, then hangs REACT, SPACE, SWIRL, WEAVE, and QUAD off them.

fedDSP is Federico Telesca's shop in Sheffield. The rest of the catalogue is built the same way: zero latency, offline licensing, keyboard shortcuts. KONVIKT, fedZEP, and OPTO sit next to quadCHO. This one is the chorus.

Two sections, not one voice

The two main sections are independent. Each one gets rate, depth, detune, phase, pan, and level. Run them at different speeds. Offset the phase. Pan one left and one right. Stack a slow bed under a faster shimmer.

The official GUI puts those sections on the left and right of a centre column. Each side has a power switch, pan, and level at the top. Rate, depth, and detune sit as sliders. A Hz or BPM switch picks free rate or host lock. A waveform control and a WEAVE control sit on the same row.

That split is the first real decision. One section can be a polite double. The other can be the motion. Or both can lock to tempo and write a stereo pulse.

REACT, SPACE, SWIRL, WEAVE, QUAD

The creative controls are the other half of the product. The official page treats them as musical, not technical.

REACT is a per-section slider on the official window. It sits with SPACE and SWIRL as one of the named modulation concepts on the product page.

SPACE sets distance and separation. It works with SWIRL. Together they take a polite width and start to pull it apart.

SWIRL adds animated feedback and unstable motion. The official range is gentle movement to warped, drifting, more chaotic modulation. This is where a pad stops being a chorus and starts being a texture.

WEAVE adds a moving texture layer around the chorus. Density, stereo detail, and satellite-like motion rise with the control. The official GUI marks it with an infinity-style icon on each section.

QUAD is a button on each section. It turns that section into a denser chorus voice. More size, more movement, no second plugin.

Those five names are the reason quadCHO is a playground and not only a chorus. You can ignore them and ride rate and depth. Or you can push SPACE and SWIRL until the insert becomes the part.

Global desk: mix, tone, vintage, filters, limiter

The centre column is the global desk. MIX blends wet against dry. DEPTH and TILT are the quick tonal pair. SAT adds harmonic colour. WIDTH shrinks the whole signal to mono or pushes it past stereo. A main LEVEL sits with them.

VINTAGE is the softer saturation associated with older units. HPF and LPF keep the effect in a band. A zero-latency limiter sits on the output.

That last block is how you use it in parallel. Push the sections hard. Filter the result. Limit the peak. Blend it back with MIX. The official note is that this is for a broken sound that still leaves the source intact.

Zero latency is a house rule at fedDSP. The page also calls out a small CPU footprint and offline-ready licensing. Keyboard shortcuts are part of the same pitch.

Where it sits on a track

The official page walks through sources. Synths and keys get width, animated depth, or evolving modulation without losing the patch. Two sections at different rates keep the motion from feeling static. Detune adds thickness. SPACE and SWIRL are the drift.

Vocals get a soft stereo move, a dreamy width, or a character that becomes part of the vocal. The range is classic widening to a double.

Guitars run from clean shimmer to wide layers, ambient beds, and textured walls. Different speeds, depths, and detune levels on the two sections write a texture that can become the guitar sound. SAT plus SPACE, SWIRL, and QUAD is the other path.

Drums are on the list. Rooms, overheads, percussion, and loops. Push modulation, SWIRL, and saturation for rhythmic textures and stereo movement.

Loops get tempo-locked motion, stereo drift, colour, and filtering. Pads and soundscapes get slow movement, SPACE, SWIRL, and VINTAGE. That is the texture-designer mode.

A trial download sits on the fedDSP Downloads page. All features are on. A short, infrequent silence is the only limit.

Pick quadCHO when you want two live sections and a set of motion controls that go past rate and depth. Pick Syntorus 2 when you want a thick, analogue-modelled chorus and you are done. Pick Thorus XT when you want a digital engine and a BBD engine in one plugin, with a voice-count morph. Valhalla Space Modulator stays the free, single-job modulator.

£35 intro is a specialist price against a £75 regular. You are buying a chorus that is willing to become a texture.

Who quadCHO is for

quadCHO suits producers who already own a stock chorus and want a second one that can misbehave on purpose. It also suits mixers who want a vocal double, a guitar bed, or a pad atmosphere from one insert. Zero latency and a light CPU load are the reason to put it on several tracks.

Skip it if you wanted a one-knob Dimension-style chorus and nothing else. Skip it if a free modulator already covers the job. Skip it if you needed a standalone app. Windows has no AU, which only matters if your host is AU-only.

The intro is £35 against £75.

A two-section creative chorus. Rate, depth, detune, phase, pan, and level on each side, plus REACT, SPACE, SWIRL, WEAVE, and QUAD. Global MIX, DEPTH, TILT, SAT, WIDTH, VINTAGE, filters, and a zero-latency limiter.

How much does quadCHO cost?

£35 intro against £75 regular, sold direct from fedDSP. The page includes VAT in the displayed price.

Does quadCHO work on Apple Silicon?

Yes. Native on Apple Silicon and Intel. Rosetta is not required.

quadCHO vs Syntorus 2?

Syntorus 2 is a triple-path analogue chorus. quadCHO is two independent sections with extra motion controls. Use Syntorus when you want thickness. Use quadCHO when you want two rates and a path into SPACE and SWIRL.

Is there a trial?

Yes. The trial has every feature. It inserts a short, infrequent silence.

Verdict

quadCHO is a chorus that will also write atmosphere. Two sections, five named motion controls, a global tone desk, and a zero-latency limiter. £35 intro against £75. It will not replace a simple stock chorus if that is all you needed. If the job is width that can turn into texture without a second plugin, this is the fedDSP insert for that sentence.
