Das Dubspot-Urteil

Das Dubspot-Urteil

A focused saturator that blends valve warmth and transistor bite, from subtle to mangled. One circuit and no extras, but at its sale price it is the easiest saturation buy there is.

Am besten für Producers who want flexible, good-sounding harmonic saturation on vocals, drums and buses for very little money.

Pros

  • Blend second-order (valve) and third-order (transistor) harmonics
  • Shape control runs from smooth to hard-edged distortion
  • Wet/Dry knob for parallel saturation without a send
  • $10 at Plugin Boutique until 1 November 2026

Cons

  • Single-band: no frequency-targeted saturation
  • No tape or console models, no modulation
  • Free iLok account required

Field notes

Überblick

SSL Native X-Saturator is Solid State Logic's dedicated saturation plugin. It gives you the two classic flavours of harmonic distortion side by side: second-order, valve-style saturation for warmth, and third-order, transistor-style saturation for bite, either on its own or blended.

The Shape control sets how the distortion breaks up, from smooth to hard, so the same plugin goes from a touch of warmth on a vocal to aggressive, mangled drums. A Wet/Dry knob tucks heavy settings underneath the original signal for parallel saturation. It is AU, VST2, VST3 and AAX Native, and needs a free iLok account.

The trade-off is scope: it is one good circuit, with no multiband splitting, modulation or tape models. Decapitator has more instant character and Saturn 2 far more control, but both cost many times more. X-Saturator is $10 at Plugin Boutique until 1 November 2026. Our best saturation plugins guide compares all three.
