BOOM Library UBERBASS First Look 2026
BOOM Library UBERBASS is a harmonic bass enhancer. BOOM lists $92 from $115 excluding VAT, and Best Service lists the intro at $94.20 from $118 excluding VAT.

BOOM Library has released UBERBASS, a bass enhancer for music, sound design, and picture. It builds harmonics with a resonant focus around a frequency you choose, then runs that new energy through drive and a gate. It does not invent a subharmonic below the note. The manufacturer price is $92, down from $115, excluding VAT. This is a first look from the official product page, not a hands-on review.
At a glance: UBERBASS is a plug-in, not a standalone app. It needs a free iLok account, either as a machine licence or with a USB dongle you buy separately. A 14-day trial is fully functional. Best Service lists the same intro at $94.20 from $118 excluding VAT, and marks the release date as 13 October 2026.
What UBERBASS adds, and what it leaves alone
A thin bass line, a soft explosion, or a dialogue stem with no chest can all fail for the same reason. The fundamental is weak, or the speakers cannot reproduce it. One fix is to synthesize a new tone an octave down. UBERBASS takes the other fix. It reinforces low end that is already in the source by generating harmonics around a chosen frequency, with resonance you can narrow or widen.
That distinction matters on a mix bus and on a location recording. A generated sub can fight the kick or invent a pitch the production never played. Harmonics around an existing frequency make a small speaker imply the weight without adding a new note. BOOM is explicit that this is not the same tool as ENFORCER. ENFORCER fires a new impulse at a chosen MIDI note or semitone. UBERBASS stays tied to energy that is already there.
The signal path is short. BOOST sets how much new harmonic energy you add. FREQUENCY picks the focus, either in hertz or as a pitch from E0 to B2. INTENSITY and Q-FACTOR shape how narrow and how resonant that focus is. DRIVE distorts the generated harmonics, and a second drive stage sits beside it. GATE follows, with threshold, attack, release, and ratio, so the enhancement can open on the hit and close in the gaps. LOW CUT sits on the whole signal, before the dry/wet blend, which keeps the effect from piling mud under a part you just tried to clarify.
Oversampling goes up to 4x. With lookahead off, BOOM states that the plug-in adds no latency. Lookahead on adds 10 ms. Use the zero-latency path when the enhancer is on a live input or a tightly edited drum bus. Use lookahead when the gate needs to open before the transient arrives and 10 ms is acceptable.
Where it sits in a session
On a bass guitar or a synth bass, set FREQUENCY near the note you want to feel and keep Q narrow enough that the resonance does not whistle. GATE is the control that stops the enhancement from holding a drone between notes. DRIVE is optional color, not the point of the plug-in. If the part already has a strong fundamental, a low BOOST and a higher LOW CUT will do more than maxing every knob.
On sound design and picture, the same path fattens a door, a vehicle, or a body fall that was recorded on a small microphone. Because the process follows the source, it does not stamp an 808 pitch onto a sound effect. That is also the limit. A kick sample with nothing below 80 Hz will not grow a clean sine an octave down. You would be enhancing whatever low mid is already present.
Music producers who want a pitched sub under a lead have a different plug-in for that job. Baby Audio SubCulture tracks pitch and generates subharmonics. Plugin Boutique lists SubCulture at $129 with no discount showing today. Arturia Pure SUB is a bass instrument, not an enhancer, at $79 on Plugin Boutique. UBERBASS stays an insert on audio you already recorded or printed.

UBERBASS vs SubCulture and 8008
These three all get talked about in the same sentence, and they do different work. Prices below are what the stores showed on 14 October 2026.
| UBERBASS | SubCulture | Thenatan 8008 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Job | Harmonics around a frequency already in the audio | Pitch-tracking subharmonics | 808-style sub shaping |
| Street price | $92 from $115 excl. VAT (BOOM). $94.20 from $118 excl. VAT (Best Service) | $129 at Plugin Boutique | $59.50 at Plugin Boutique |
| Protection | iLok account or dongle | Baby Audio licence | Plugin Boutique download |
| Best at | Music low end, sound design, picture | A tuned sub under a melodic part | Punch and tone in the 808 range |
| Skip it when | You need a new note below the source | You only need to reinforce what is already there | You are not shaping 808-style drums |
The SubCulture page in the plugin database is the longer read on generated subs. Thenatan 8008, sold as an 808 sub bass shaper, is $59.50 at Plugin Boutique.
Who it is for
Buy it if your low end is present but small, on a bass, a drum bus, or a sound effect, and you want weight without a new pitch. The gate and the low cut are the reasons to pick it over a simple exciter. Picture editors who already live in an iLok account will find the install familiar.
It is a strong companion if you already own a sub generator and keep using it on the wrong sources. Print the generated sub only when the arrangement needs that note. Use UBERBASS when the recording should sound like itself, only heavier.
Skip it if you will not install iLok. The dongle is optional. The account is not. Skip it if the job is an 808 designer or a synth bass from silence. Skip it if $92 is more than you want for one insert and the $59.50 shaper or a stock saturator already does the part. The manufacturer price and the Best Service price are a couple of dollars apart, both excluding VAT, so pick the checkout you already use.
How much does UBERBASS cost?
BOOM lists $92, down from $115, excluding VAT. That is 20 percent off the figure printed as the original price. Best Service lists $94.20, down from $118, excluding VAT, with the same numbers in euros, and tags the offer as an intro. The Best Service page dates the release to 13 October 2026.
The licence needs a free iLok account. You can lock it to the machine or to an iLok USB key. The key is a separate purchase. The trial runs 14 days with every control available. BOOM's system requirements are Windows 8 64-bit or macOS 10.13 64-bit, 8 GB of RAM, an Intel i5-class chip or Apple Silicon, and OpenGL 2.1. It is not a standalone application.
You can buy it from BOOM Library or from Best Service. It is not listed at Plugin Boutique.
FAQ
Does UBERBASS generate a sub octave?
No. It generates harmonics focused around a frequency you set, from E0 to B2 or in hertz, then shapes them with drive and a gate. A pitch-tracking subharmonic tool such as SubCulture is the other category.
What does the licence require?
A free iLok account. You can authorize the computer or an iLok dongle. The dongle is not included. There is a 14-day fully functional trial.
What is the latency?
Zero added latency with lookahead off. Ten milliseconds with lookahead on. Oversampling goes up to 4x and is separate from that lookahead figure.
Why are there two prices?
BOOM sells it at $92 from $115 excluding VAT. Best Service sells it at $94.20 from $118 excluding VAT, and shows the same amounts in euros. Both are intro pricing against those higher figures. Local tax is extra at either checkout.
Which formats does it support?
VST3, AU, AAX Native, AudioSuite, and NKS, with native Apple Silicon. BOOM also names hosts that support VST 2.4 or VST3, AU, or AAX, including Logic, Nuendo, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper, and Ableton Live. There is no standalone app.
