O veredito Dubspot

O veredito Dubspot

Ideal para Mixers who want a vocal or drum reverb that stays out of the way of the dry part and blooms in the gaps, without building a sidechain.

Pros

  • Ducking is the core feature, up to 36 dB, keyed internally or from an external track
  • Recovery sets in note values or milliseconds, so the tail blooms in time
  • Four-point Tail Shaper and deep tempo sync on Decay, Pre-Delay, and Recovery
  • $49 one time, three machines, no dongle, zero reported latency

Cons

  • A focused ducking reverb, not a surgical or convolution reverb
  • No AAX on Windows yet, so no Pro Tools on a PC
  • Sold direct only, not through the major affiliate retailers

Field notes

Visão geral

FOAM is Carbonated Audio's ducking reverb. While the dry signal plays, its Make Room control lowers the reverb by up to 36 dB, then lets the tail return in the gaps, so the space stays alive underneath a busy part instead of being gated off. Recovery sets in note values or milliseconds, and a Detector listens to FOAM's own input by default or to an external source, so a vocal reverb can duck to a kick.

The room comes from a single Size and Bloom field with ten factory spaces, and a four-point Tail Shaper (Onset, Build, Body, Decay) draws the tail against the dry signal on a tempo grid. Decay, Pre-Delay, and Recovery sync to tempo or run free, with a manual BPM fallback when the host gives no tempo. It loads as a send or an insert, adds Tone and Width, reports zero latency with no lookahead, and runs under 1% of one core on an Apple M4 at 48 kHz, per the developer.

The license is $49, one time, for up to three machines, with no dongle or account. Formats are VST3, AU, and AAX on macOS 11 or later, and VST3 on Windows 10 and 11. The nearest rivals are Baby Audio Crystalline, a full modern reverb with a Ducker mode at $99, and Valhalla VintageVerb at $50, the classic algorithmic reverb with no ducking. For the same studio's console-chip resynth tool, see TALLBOY.

We have not scored it. The demo is the full plugin, playing 60 seconds then muting 10 on a loop. For the full walkthrough, see the FOAM first look.

Quick reference

Perguntas frequentes

How much does Carbonated Audio FOAM cost?

FOAM is $49, a one-time purchase sold direct by Carbonated Audio, with a license for up to three machines and no dongle or account. A free, full-feature demo plays for 60 seconds then mutes for 10 on a loop.

How is FOAM different from a reverb with a sidechain?

FOAM builds the ducking in, so there is no send, bus, or compressor to set up. Make Room lowers the tail by up to 36 dB while the source plays, with recovery in note values or milliseconds, keyed internally or from an external track.

FOAM vs Baby Audio Crystalline?

Crystalline is a full modern reverb at $99 that includes a Ducker mode. FOAM is a dedicated ducking reverb at $49 with a four-point Tail Shaper and deep tempo sync. Pick Crystalline for one do-everything reverb, and FOAM when ducking is the point.

What formats and systems does FOAM support?

VST3, AU, and AAX on macOS 11 or later (universal, AAX signed for Pro Tools), and VST3 on Windows 10 and 11. There is no AAX on Windows yet, so Pro Tools on a PC is not supported.
