Soundpaint is 8Dio's sampler platform, and its engine is free. You download the engine and load Soundpaint libraries into it, from free content to deep-sampled paid collections, which puts it in the same space as Kontakt with a different bargain: the player costs nothing and you pay for sounds.
Version 5.0, released on 22 September 2026, adds Brush, a built-in sample editor and mapping system that lets you turn your own audio into a playable instrument for the first time, along with a 2000-step arpeggiator and new Racks such as Micro Tune, Round Robin, Vintage Drift, and 505.
