O veredito Dubspot

A detailed software recreation of the Alesis Andromeda A6, with the hardware's dual-filter voice, seven-stage envelopes, deep modulation and two-way patch compatibility. First look based on published specs, not lab testing.

Ideal para Producers who want the Andromeda A6 sound without ageing hardware, and A6 owners who want recall and their patches inside the DAW.

Pros

  • Models the A6 voice in detail: two oscillators, dual ASIC-derived filters, three seven-stage envelopes
  • Deep modulation with modulatable destinations, including envelope stage times
  • 16-part multitimbral for splits, layers and full arrangements in one instance
  • Imports A6 SysEx and links to the hardware in both directions; perpetual licence covers three computers

Cons

  • Software modelling never fully settles the analog-character question
  • No AAX, so Pro Tools users are left out at launch
  • £99 is more than several capable general-purpose analog-style plugins

Field notes

Visão geral

ASYX is Isla Electronics' first synth plugin, a software recreation of the Alesis Andromeda A6. Rather than sample the instrument, Isla Electronics modelled its signal path: two oscillators per voice with sync, FM and ring modulation, feeding a pair of filters derived from the A6's custom ASIC designs, an Oberheim SEM-style 12 dB per octave multimode filter and a Moog 904A-style 24 dB per octave low-pass, with series or parallel routing.

Around that voice sit three LFOs, three seven-stage envelopes with selectable curves, and a deep modulation system whose destinations include envelope stage times as well as the usual oscillator and filter targets. ASYX is 16-part multitimbral, ships with more than 1,200 programs and artist banks, and can import original A6 SysEx patches or exchange sounds with a connected A6 in both directions. It runs as AU, VST3 or standalone on macOS and as VST3 or standalone on Windows, for £99.

Quick reference

Perguntas frequentes

How much does Isla Electronics ASYX cost?

ASYX is £99, for a perpetual licence covering up to three computers and all future versions. It is sold directly by Isla Electronics.

What does ASYX emulate?

It is a software recreation of the Alesis Andromeda A6, the sixteen-voice analog polysynth Alesis launched in 2000. Isla Electronics modelled its oscillator and filter circuitry and rebuilt the full voice.

Can ASYX use my original Andromeda A6 patches?

Yes. You can import original A6 SysEx programs and banks, and a two-way MIDI link lets the hardware control ASYX or receive patches back.

What formats and systems does ASYX support?

AU, VST3 and standalone on macOS Big Sur and later (Intel or Apple Silicon), and VST3 and standalone on Windows 10 and later. A Linux build is listed as coming soon, and there is no AAX version at launch.
