Is Dexed as good as FM8?
For classic DX7 tones and SysEx banks, Dexed is excellent and free. FM8 is easier for new FM design and ships more modern workflow sugar. Different jobs.
Can Dexed load DX7 patches?
Yes. Loading and managing DX7 SysEx cartridges is one of Dexed’s core strengths.
Is FM8 free?
No. FM8 is a paid NI product (often discounted or bundled in Komplete). Dexed is free and open source.
