Live Performance with Ableton Live* Starts Tuesday March 10th 5:15-7:00

“Explore the use of Ableton Live in a performance setting, with controllers, macros, custom patches, and design strategies that allow you to create your own instrument”

• Day 1) Creating and arranging your set Includes warping and looping; launch modes; strategies for avoiding train wrecks.
• Day 2) Creative Effects: Setting up your own effect racks for live performance; creative effect chains.
• Day 3) Controllers: Controlling the effect racks; assigning macros; using key-mapping; advanced controller strategies.
• Day 4) Performance: Live processing of acoustic instruments including guitars, drums, vocals; live in-class presentations of student sets.

Track 6: DJing with Video* Starts Tuesday April 7th 5:15-7:00pm

As it becomes increasingly harder for DJ’s to stand out from the crowd with just music, video has emerged as the next frontier. Learn how turn your DJ-set into a full AV-performance using hardware such as Pioneer’s DVJ-1000 DVD-turntable and SVM-1000 AV-mixer and software, such as Serato Video SL. Learn how to create AV-content by ripping and authoring DVD’s, editing in iMovie and remixing a music-video.

Final assignment: record your own mixed DVD, that may be used as a demo.
