This edition of Dubspot Radio Rewind welcomes New York City-based electronic music producer and performer, Nick ’81Neutronz’ Low-Beer with an exclusive live set using Ableton Live packed with original productions, collaborations, and remixes.
Nick ’81Neutronz’ Low-Beer is a New York City-based musician best known for crafting abstract electronic music and hip hop beats that can function as dancefloor dream weapons or terraforming/earth-shaping soundtracks. In this exclusive live performance, Nick showcases original productions, collaborations, and commissioned remixes using Ableton Live.
Nick “81Neutronz” Low-Beer is a composer, audio engineer, performer/DJ, and MPC head best known for his electronica, ambient, and hip hop music. Nick was born in Westchester, New York in 1983. By his fourth birthday, he was showing an interest in martial arts, astronomy, break dancing, literature, and music while learning the Suzuki violin.
As a composer, Nick uses drum machines, synthesizers, and an upright piano to create music. He is credited for his contribution to the track “Cinderella Man” on Eminem’s Grammy Award winning album “Recovery.” Nick has also worked with genius British electronic musician LX Paterson and completed various projects for film and television for Broadway Legend Sergio Trujillo, the choreographer behind Jersey Boys, Memphis, and Leap of Faith. An interest in composing and producing original music was sparked by his early introduction to DJing.
As a performer/DJ, Nick has gained a following in the Manhattan club scene. The origins of this talent are rooted in the summer of 1997 when he was gifted with turntables on his 14th birthday by LX Paterson of the Orb, who remains one of Nick’s greatest influences. Nick began spinning at parties, making remixes, and entering local DJ contests. Nick attended Colorado State University, where he DJ’d opening sets for legendary rap artists and groups like Wu-Tang’s Raekwon and The Beatnuts. He left CSU early and relocated to Manhattan to pursue a career in music.
