NYC-via-Chicago DJ and Dubspot Instructor DJ Reborn blesses us with this exclusive mix just in time for the first weekend of summer! The 35-minute-long set entitled Variation offers a glimpse into Reborn’s diverse and intriguing sonic universe. It includes a healthy dose of soulful 80s R&B, an array of dance and funk remixes, and some rock jams. She kicks things off with a remix by Detroit-based house and techno legend Moodymann and effortlessly blends Yaz into Beth Ditto, before getting into all kinds of goodness including tracks from Prince to the Police to the Platinum Pied Pipers, Jim-E Stack, Seiji and more. In Reborn’s words, “so many sounds have influenced me over the years as a DJ and music lover. I’m most satisfied with music when it changes but still has a sonic thread to follow. I get bored easily and can’t listen to any one genre ad nauseum. Hopefully my sets reflect this self-imposed restlessness with sound.”
