Beginning Monday, July 25th Dubspot is excited to present a series of live streaming workshops from masters in the fields of production, VJing, drumming, and improvisation in Ableton Live.

Dubspot’s Live Streaming Workshop Series

The first of Dubspot’s Live Streaming Workshop Series will feature Brazil’s Percussivo Mundo Novo, a project led by percussion innovator Mikael Mutti, whose equally genre-busting infusions of Brazilian rhythms and music has led him to digital percussion wizardry that includes analog drums and video game controllers.

Then on July 29, we’ll have none other than Philadelphia’s genre-melting legend King Britt and his live album experimentations with Rucyl Mills and their project Saturn Never Sleeps.

On August 1st, all the way from Holland DJ Irie will demonstrate his use of Serato and Ableton Live for his work as a battle VJ and turntablist.

About Percussivo Mundo Novo

At the helm of Percussivo Mundo Novo’s vision is Mikael Mutti, Bahian, Brazil-based percussionist, futurist, and self-described “cyber-Mohican.” Onstage Mutti touts instruments like the tablet, fashioned with a guitar from the popular game Guitar Hero.

To say Percussivo Mundo Novo is next level is to mean that on every level. In addition to Mutti’s use of controllers like Guitar Hero, he has enlisted a crew of local Bahia percussion aficionado’s to fill out the drum storm that is group’s sound.

Equally transcendent of form, the group makes music dressed in everything from the Mutti and the group’s roots in Brazilian rhythms and sounds, to hip-hop, fusion jazz, prog rock, the list goes on.

For Mutti and the group’s workshop, they will be conducting demonstrations of how they incorporate controllers (tablets included), as well other unconventional percussion method.
