Scratching, teaching, turntablism, advanced mathematics, sweet Salsa success and tragedy, 2007 DMC World Supremacy Champion, Dubspot’s DJ Shiftee has seen many things in his young career, but nothing can quite compare to his latest achievement: DMC World DJ Champion.
Over the weekend, Shiftee was in London, England representing the United States at the most prestigious DJ competition in the world. His victory puts Shiftee’s name alongside an elite group of past champions such as Roc Raida, Cash Money, Craze and A-Trak, and secures him a place in turntablism history. He is one of only two people in the world to have won both the Supremacy and the World DJ Championship.
And so what will he do next? Become an astronaut? Carry his new gold turntables around with him wherever he goes? The sky is the limit for this young prodigy. However, he is back at Dubspot, so if you have ever wanted to learn turntablism from the best, it now would seem that you definitively can. Class starts September 15th.
