During our visit to Seattle’s Decibel Festival earlier this year, Dubspot instructor/course designer Thavius Beck presented a workshop on MIDI controllers as performance instruments with Ableton Live.
Earlier this year Dubspot partnered with Decibel Festival to present a series of music production and DJ workshops with our team of instructors (including Thavius Beck, DJ Shiftee, and Chris Petti) at the annual music, technology, and art event in Seattle. During our visit, Dubspot instructor/course designer Thavius Beck led a workshop on using new types of MIDI controllers such as Keith McMillan’s QuNeo and Novation’s Launchpad as creative input devices for music production with Ableton Live.
Thavius Beck released his latest album The Most Beautiful Ugly on pioneering Los Angeles label Plug Research. He has also released music on labels such as Mush and Big Dada and collaborated with the likes of Saul Williams, Nine Inch Nails, Nas, and Busdriver.
The Most Beautiful Ugly is Thavius’ first album in three years. You can buy the album; it’s currently available in limited colored vinyl edition, CD, and digital.
