Baaba Maal is a widely admired mainstay of the world music scene, whose compositions are roundly respected by a vast array of musicians due to his ingenuity, creativity and pure musical ability.
Dubspot is proud to announce our support of the Baaba Maal International Remix Competition, sponsored by Palm Pictures and Giant Step.
The contest is for remixes of the track ‘International’ off of Baaba Maal’s new album Television. The album itself is the product of a collaboration with NYC’s Brazilian Girls, who contributed a notable electronic influence to the West African musical base. In keeping with the spirit of collaboration the public is now invited to download the stems and submit their own creations. The deadline for entry is October 22nd.
1st place receives an 8 week electronic music production course from you-know-who, in addition to some cash and a Palm Pictures CD/DVD bundle. Other prizes and more information is available from the contest website.
