Appleblim is best known for co-founding and running seminal bass music label Skull Disco with his friend and collaborator Shackleton. Skull Disco operated in London from 2005 to 2008 and released music primarily from Shackleton and Appleblim. Between them they put out about a dozen well-loved 12-inch records and two double-CD compilations. When the label dissolved in 2008, Appleblim moved to Bristol and founded the Apple Pips imprint.
In their conversation, Appleblim talks to Raz about commuting from Bristol to London to catch DJ sets at legendary early dubstep night FWD>> (where he later became a resident), attending the prestigious Bath Spa University and studying experimental electronic music and art, connecting with Shackleton and forming Skull Disco, the constant evolution of electronic music and club culture in the UK and around the world, the importance of a good sound system, and his ideas about the musical future.
