In this video, Dubspot Instructor and Course Designer Matt Cellitti demonstrates some creative loop-layering techniques using Twisted Tools’ Ultraloop for Native Instruments’ Reaktor.
In this video Dubspot’s Matt Cellitti demonstrates some creative uses of Twisted Tools‘ Ultraloop instrument for Native Instruments’ Reaktor software. Below are some of his thoughts regarding this new piece of software.
What is Ultraloop?
Ultraloop is a loop remixing sampler combining advanced loop layering with additional effects that instantaneously transforms pieces of multiple loops into new rhythms and song ideas. I’ve never experienced a product that does this so quickly and intuitively. You can breathe new life into old loops or mangle your own productions into something new entirely with it.
Twisted Tools is a company making some very forward-thinking instruments and effects using Native Instrument Reaktor as the host for their creations. Because you can build your own instrument and effects inside Reaktor, all that is left is the creativity to do so.
How can producers use this tool?
It’s no secret that loops and loop libraries are big business. But using the same loops that everyone else has access to can become stale and boring, especially if you are just throwing the loops right in your song and copying/pasting throughout. What;s so exciting about Ultraloop is that it composites several different loops together effortlessly. All these complex techniques where producers will glitch-out sections of a song can be done very easily with Ultraloop. Furthermore, as a sound design tool, just imagine throwing in stems of your productions and create a mashup or glitchy breakdown section of your song.
What does this loop tool do that other loop manipulating programs doesn’t do?
You could have multiple loops arranged on top of one another in any DAW and spend hours chopping, truncating, processing, moving them around to come up with something interesting. But with Ultraloop, you can do all this within seconds – and in a far more creative manner. Additionally, thanks to Reaktor’s ability to do a lot of smart randomization, Ultraloop provides instant change with the push of one randomization parameter. That is most definitely something you cannot do in a DAW to swap out hundreds of loops or effect settings with the push of a button.
Become fluent in the language of sound design with this comprehensive program. This six-level Sound Design program uses Native Instruments’ Komplete as a platform for learning synthesis and sampling techniques. Starting with an introduction to the properties of sound, this comprehensive series of courses covers most common synthesis methods available for music production in the DAW of your choice.
Discovering the right sound is like finding a needle in the digital haystack. Learn the fundamentals to make this easier, and gain the depth of knowledge to make a good sound better. Factory content is great, but everyone has it – your mix needs something special.
