i mostly do hip hop music, so when i make beats I either record the beat all at once into a stereo mp3 track or separately ( bass, kick, snare, sample, hi hat, ect.) in mono wav tracks. so in the multitrack when im recording the vocals, should i record the vocals in stereo on the stereo mp3 beat or mono? and with the mono tracks should i record the vocals in mono or stereo?

When i first started out, everything was in stereo. But now that im learning more i like to pan things and sometimes i feel that on the songs where the beat is stereo and the vocals are mono, that the vocals just stay centered and the beat surrounds them, so im not sure if thats good or okay or not.
