New SonicScoop Contest :: Get Your Tracks On Vinyl – For Free

02,18,10_sonicscoop_vinyl_pic1Our friends over at SonicScoop have a great new giveaway contest going on, especially perfect for a Dubspot student who wants to immortalize their compositions in style — on vinyl.

Their partner in the contest, Trutone Mastering Labs, will create two 12″ master lacquers, cut by Trutone founder Carl Rowatti, of any tracks the winner supplies and deems worthy of such royal treatment.

If you don’t have any idea what a master lacquer is, do some homework!  Back in the day it was a process to go from finished song to LP or 12″.  An engineer would first transfer a song onto an acetate disc, which would be reviewed for sound quality.  This would serve as a test version of the record.  After review, the engineer would then cut a master lacquer disc, which would be sent to the pressing plant for mass production.

Think how many old school producers you could impress…

Contest closes March 4th. Hit up SonicScoop.com for more details.
