He was generous enough to give us a rundown of his latest electronic music equipment, the Prophet 12 Module, a powerful desktop version of the Prophet 12, which is one of the best sounding synths we have heard in recent years.
Moog Music Inc Sub 37: Paraphonic Analog Synthesizer
One of the most exciting synthesizers on display at the NAMM Show this year was the brand new Moog Sub 37 paraphonic analog synthesizer. Built on the Sub Phatty sound engine, the Sub 37 Tribute Edition is without question one of the best sounding devices we heard at NAMM. It’s panel features 40 knobs, 74 switches, and has a dedicated LCD display.
Bitwig Studio: Music Production and Performance DAW
Dubspot’s Chris Petti and Bitwig Studio co-founder Claes Johanson got a chance to talk about some of the most exciting features and tools in Bitwig Studio in the above video. The much anticipated multi-platform music production and performance digital audio workstation finally has a release date – scheduled to hit the market on March 26, 2014 with a price tag of $399!
Apogee Electronics Synphony I/O Converter: 64 Channel Audio Interface
We had a quick walkthrough Apogee Electronics Symphony I/O flagship converter unit, which serves as a standard gateway to and from any Apple workstation or Mac-based DAW.
Pioneer: DDJ-SZ DJ Controller
The recently released DDJ-SZ DJ Controller from Pioneer was on display. DJ Jay offered us a walkthrough of the controller, which is designed for the Serato DJ software and comes with signature Pioneer technology including a mixer that mimics their DJM series and CDJ PRO jog wheels.
iZotope + BT BreakTweaker: MicroEdit Drum Sequencing Engine
iZotope and BT’s brand new microedit drum sequencing application BreakTweaker was also on display. We had a quick walkthrough of the key features of the program which includes a drum synthesis module and of course the microedit engine.
Akai MPC Element: Music Production Control
Here we get a quick walkthrough of Akai Pro’s latest beat-creation machine, the compact and portable MPC Element which combines some of the innovative features of their MPC Renaissance series along with their new MPC Essentials software!
