Video: Kate Simko (Hello? Repeat, Ghostly) @ Dubspot – Visuals, Film Scoring, Ableton +

On May 16th 2011, Chicago based electronic music producer Kate Simko stopped by Dubspot HQ in NYC for a free workshop in which she discussed creative workflow, shared production techniques, talked about audio/visual performance using Max MSP synced with Ableton Live, the process of creating her debut album and composing film soundtrack for a PBS science documentary The Atom Smashers (137 Films) using Logic. Kate also discussed collaboration visual and sound artists such as Naut Humon and Jeffrey Weeter, the importance of electronic music education institutes and schools such as Dubspot and fostering innovation and expression. The complete workshop was streamed live via Ustream and lasted about 90 minutes, and it was inspiring and enlightening! We recommend you check out Simko’s debut album Lights Out (out now on Hello?Repeat) and catch her live audio/visual performance when you get the opportunity.
