Experimental Music Events: Hallucinations + Gamelatron in Brooklyn

On Thursday and Friday, January 27 and 28, professional chamber orchestra and collective Metropolis Ensemble along with Artistic Director Andrew Cyr will perform a mind-bending concert at Le Poisson Rouge featuring the world premiere electro-acoustic remix by Ricardo Romaneiro of John Corigliano‘s Three Hallucinations, based on his Academy Award-nominated film score to Altered States.

The program Hallucinations: A Mind-Bending Concert will showcase new works from rising composers such as Ricardo Romaneiro, whose latest composition Strata utilizes Ableton Live and Max4Live and Sibelius to create live electronic-acoustic remixes, performed on analog synth modules and drum machines as well as controlling computers using a Lemur touch controllers. The two-day event will also premiere new works and compositions from Du Yun (Fallen Warriors, the Cihuacoatl’s Eye), Gity Razaz (The Metamorphosis of Narcissus), Enrico Chapela (LiPo).

Also this weekend, on Saturday, Dubspot Instructor and Ableton Certified Trainer Taylor Kuffner aka Zemi17 will gift us a special live presentation of the Gamelatron Orchestra in a chapel in an old convent in North Brooklyn. The showcase at St. Cecelia’s Convent is part of Rabid Hands is pleased to present Sequence of Waves will be open to the public from 2pm – 9pm on Saturday.
