Dubspot UnFiltered Roundup! Online Course Preview Lessons – Ableton, Logic, Music Foundations, Mixing and Mastering

Earlier this year we began providing a look into our online curriculum with Dubspot UnFiltered, a video series created to share the intimate experience that Dubspot Online offers for students of music production and DJing. In this roundup, we’ve compiled the first four Dubspot UnFiltered videos.

UnFiltered - Dubspot Online School Preview: Student Video Feedback Video w/ Thavius Beck

In this first installment we look at the work of Devon Karpf (a.k.a. Underscores), a 13-year-old producer who has been working with Thavius Beck in our Ableton Live online program.

Dubspot Unfiltered: Ableton Live

“We take great pride in offering what we consider to be the best curriculum and most informative videos to our students in our online school. Prospective students might be unaware that the learning experience is further strengthened by the individualized video feedback our instructors provide to the students. This is a tremendous opportunity to get focused help that is tailored to your needs as you progress through the course. I’ve had many students respond by saying that the individualized video feedback was the most valuable resource they had at Dubspot.” – Matt Cellitti

In the second installment of UnFiltered, we take a deeper look into the world of sampling via granular synthesis in Ableton Live with instructor Chris Petti.

Dubspot Unfiltered: Ableton Live

“This is an excerpt from our recently updated Dubspot Ableton Live course. This is a teaser to give you an idea of some of the concepts and techniques that you will be learning in our full Ableton Live music production course. This specific lesson comes from Level 4, as we dive pretty deep into Live’s Sampler for original sound and patch creation.” – Chris Petti

In the third installment of UnFiltered, Course Designer and Dubspot Instructor Matt Shadetek shares a lesson from Level 3 of our recently updated Logic Pro course.

Dubspot UnFiltered: Logic Pro X

In this episode of Dubspot UnFiltered, Logic Course Designer Matt Shadetek shares a lesson from Level 3 of our new Logic Pro X course. The videos in our Logic Pro course are broken up into core videos where the concepts are taught and example videos which demonstrate the ideas in use in various styles. In this video Matt Shadetek explains how to create three elements for a big room, progressive/electro-house style track using the modulation router in Logic’s EXS24 sampler. The elements he explains are a saw tooth lead with triplet tremolo, a distorted sub bass kick and a noise riser/fill sound.  The goal of the video is to give viewers a feeling for how the Logic Pro X course is taught in Dubspot Online while sharing some production tips.

The fourth installment of our UnFiltered series is a two-part video with Mixing and Mastering Course Designer and Dubspot Instructor Daniel Wyatt sharing tips and techniques for improving the quality of your sub bass using iZotope Alloy 2‘s Harmonic Exciter tool.

He shows you how to navigate the features and parameters iZotope Alloy 2 Harmonic Exciter tool, and shows you how you can add a boost to your low and low-mid frequencies and give it a warm and dynamic feel.
