We’re proud to announce the first installment of ‘Dubspot Students to Watch’ for 2013. We’re kicking this monthly series back into gear and once again we will be showcasing some of the outstanding emerging electronic music artists, DJs, and producers who have recently come through our doors. Our roundup this month features a diverse group of rising young producers and performers including Hyperbits, François Dillinger, Nyxyss, Zeratone, and Satya Hinduja.
Hyperbits // New York City
NYC-based production duo Hyperbits produce fresh, forward-leaning electronic dance music. The duo of Robert Palliser and Serik Slobodskoy fuse melody and energy to create highly infectious progressive house jams. In 2012 alone, Hyperbits have shared stages with Sander van Doorn, EDX, Madeon, Filo & Peri, Mysto & Pizzi, Matt Lange, Zack Roth and many more. Slobodskoy recently went through our Mixing & Mastering program with Daniel Wyatt, and attributes much of their club-friendly and commercial-ready sound to the class.
“The Mixing & Mastering program at Dubspot solidified an absurd amount of knowledge surrounding the sometimes vague and uncertain world of music production. The class was technically ON POINT for months, and Danny Wyatt’s lessons built the framework for me to be able to attack commercial mixdowns and even challenge or beat them.” – Serik Slobodskoy of Hyperbits
This duo is definitely on to something, as their first original release on Beatport peaked at #49 on the progressive house charts worldwide. Take a listen to some of their productions below:
François Dillinger // Detroit, MI
In his guise as the beard-wielding, bass-charged Viking François Dillinger, Detroit-based DJ and electronic music producer Ben Worden crafts groovy, undeniable, bass-heavy dance tunes. The mood here is frisky and funky, with enough energy to get any room going. He is influenced by everything from ghettotech and hip hop to breaks and house. Ben is currently taking Music Production with Ableton Live at Dubspot NYC.
“Being a student at Dubspot helped me turn a lifelong dream into a reality. The class took me from knowing very little to producing tracks that I was proud to play and share within the electronic music community.” – Ben Worden

Nyxyss // New York City
Nyxyss is a collaboration betweenclassically trained violinist and composer Hannah Thiem (Copal | Halytha Music) and DJ/producer Haj Ji (Sub Swara | Hobo Kings). Thiem is a former Dubspot student, having completed our Music Production with Logic Pro course with Matt Shadetek. The fruits of this collaborative effort are some beautiful compositions and lush soundscapes, with skillfully layered melodies on top of well-sculpted textures and unhurried beats. Nyxyss’ next single “Sunday Morning, Up All Night” is available now, and you can also pre-order their forthcoming EP Memories of Dystopia, coming out on January 23rd.
Zeratone // Singapore
Already an award-winning turntablist and a runner up in the World DMC Championship Singapore Finals in 2005, Dubspot alumni Niko Kenton a.k.a. Zeratone is an accomplished DJ and performer and has completed our courses Music Production with Ableton Live and Turntablism.
In 2012, Zeratone was awarded ‘Best DJ’ 2012 by Juice magazine (Singapore). He made a name for himself by delivering mind-blowing sets and opening for renowned electronic music artists such as Goth-Trad and Pinch. Zeratone recently played at Zoukout, one of Asia’s biggest dance music festivals, as well as throwing down a blistering DJ set at Webster Hall in New York City. Take a listen to one of Zeratone’s recent mixes below, including a range of sounds from UK funky, dubstep, drum and bass, to hip hop, grime, and juke, blended effortlessly in a turntablist style!
“In 2013, expect many more international shows as well as a debut EP and more original music!” – Niko Kenton aka Zeratone
Satya Hinduja (Tabula Rasha Music) // Bombay, India
Composer and producer Satya Hinduja explores a range of musical possibilities and sensibilities in her work. Satya began her musical journey as a film composer after graduating from The Berklee College of Music, and worked on over twenty Bollywood film scores with Emmy-nominated composers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. Passionate to explore new creative possibilities, she later branched out into new artistic media and is best known for her collaboration with Ranbir Kaleka, “18 Allegories of the Self,” a globally acclaimed mixed-media installation.
