For this weeks episode of the Dubspot Radio Podcast, we are delighted to present an exclusive mix and interview from up and coming DJ and Dubspot Alumni, ZEEMUFFIN.
ZEEMUFFIN recently joined Dubspot’s Pozibelle for a chat about her travels over the last year, her favorite DJs on the scene, and busy gig schedule. After a delightful conversation, she finished off the episode with an exclusive mix full of hip hop gems and dancefloor grooves. Be sure to catch her in action during these upcoming event dates:
**Every Thursday alongside Major Lazer’s Jillionaire and Jay White for “Feel Up Sound System” in Chinatown, NYC at Pulquieria
**July 17 – MADD Summer at Hotel Hugo with Ricci Steez, 4-8pm
**July 18 – Sole Service at Yamez (338 Mofatt Street Brooklyn, NY) with Teeburr and Ricci Steez, 2-8pm
Investment banker turned DJ, ZEEMUFFIN (Zainab Hasnain) is baking up fresh sounds all around New York City. She’s played everywhere from underground warehouse parties to NYC’s most sought after clubs such as Avenue, Sono, Gilded Lily, Kinfolk, Mister H, SOB’s, The PaperBox and Riff Raffs and opened up and DJ’d for rappers such as A$AP Nast, Blu, T-Shyne, Forte Bowie, Cashy, Duckwrth and G4SHI.
Born in Pakistan and raised in New York, her impressive knowledge of music speaks to her diverse roots. Her foundation in music started at a young age, as a classically trained viola player and bhangra dancer. She spent her teens sneaking into every NYC show she could get into and religiously studying hip hop. All of this has contributed to her unique genre blending taste and sharp technical skills.
Her contagious energy never fails to shine through her sets. She combines a variety of sounds from classic to current hip hop, electronic, future R&B and bass, jersey club and a touch of mainstream, that please underground heads and club-goers alike.
In an industry dominated by men, ZEEMUFFIN has carved a unique space for herself as a go-to hip hop DJ. She currently holds a residency at Pulqueria on Thursday’s with Major Lazer’s Jillionaire and Jay White, called #FUSS (Feel Up Sound System) and is working on her productions and mix series. When she’s not DJ’ing she also takes photos and writes for The Hundreds and Tribeca Film.
