Dubspot Online 1 Year Anniversary Party! Tunnidge, Raz Mesinai, Moldy, Kiva, Liondub, Subatomic +

On Saturday, March 3rd (10pm – 4am) we will be celebrating the one year anniversary of Dubspot Online at Dominion NY with some very special guests, Deep Medi Musik recording artist Tunnidge and Moldy from Heavy Pressure. Dubspot instructors Raz Mesinai and DJ Kiva will be on deck to deliver some wicked live sets along with Nate Mars, Barry Cole and our extended family Subatomic Sound System and Liondub. Dubspot Online stems from the same idea that founded Dubspot in New York City; music technology is only as good as the music you make. In essence, we will remained focused on your musical progress throughout your time as a student and a part of our community. One of the best ways to ingrain new skills is to practice them in a work of your own. Following this philosophy, half of each weekly assignment is incorporating newly learned topics into your music. You will submit both the homework and your ongoing track each week and then receive feedback not only from your teacher but also from your classmates.

Tunnidge talks UK electronic dance music, dubstep, Deep Medi, and more.

Late last year, we had the pleasure of hosting a live streaming music production workshop with Tim Langridge a.k.a. Tunnidge. Check out this Dubspot-produced video recap of Tunnidge’s workshop. The London-based dubstep and drum and bass producer offers a significant array of production advice, from EQing samples, to mixing and mastering suggestions. We’ve invited Tunnidge once again. This time, another production workshop which will take place here at Dubspot HQ on Friday, March 2nd, ahead of our anniversary party. Tunnidge talks about EQing samples, mixing, mastering, and more.

Tunnidge will kick off his three-day Dubspot NYC visit with a special class in which he will offer creative production and mixing advice to Dubspot students. Dubspot Instructor and Mixing & Mastering engineer Daniel Wyatt will facilitate the workshop.

Boston based dubstep artist Moldy is notorious for mind-bending DJ sets and productions that stay true to the “deep and exploratory drive of the early days” (Mixmag, 12/12/2011). A “veteran of American dubstep” (flavorwire.com, 4/19/10) and “New York City dubstep pioneer” (thekronicle.com, 3/3/10), Moldy has been “quietly leading the charge of US dubstep producers since day one” (dubwarnyc.com, 5/29/10). Composer, musician, and educator Raz Mesinai has a long and extensive history in the world of experimental and electronic music. For nearly two decades, Raz Mesinai has released music as Badawi, Sub Dub, and recently resurrected  Ladyman and has stayed on the forefront of the underground electronic music world. In this video, Raz catches up with an old friend Max Glazer as part of ourWIRELESS Interview Series.

DJ Kiva is a Brooklyn-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and Dubspot EMP Instructor who recently released a brilliant solo album titled 1000 Sunrises. In the following video, DJ Kiva delivered an exclusive Ableton Live and Akai APC40 performance of a track titled “Guided Dub” in Daniel Wyatt’s Mixing & Mastering class.

Liondub has been active in New York for a couple of decades. Whether it be through deejaying, making beats, running a label, or writing graffiti, he’s certainly left his mark. When we asked him for a podcast last year, the DJ, producer, and label boss delivered a truly special mix – an all vinyl mix which relies heavily on fresh strains of dubstep and bass music. Check out an exclusive interview here and listen to the mix below. Dubspot Podcast 013: Liondub – Exclusive All Vinyl Mix by Dubspot

New York City’s Subatomic Sound System has been producing top notch riddims and serving live dub sounds for over a decade. Here’s a recent interview we did with Emch of Subatomic. Their latest release is a collaboration with Nomadic Wax, a riddim titled “NYC-2-Africa”. Mega-Jamaican dancehall reggae star Anthony B voiced the riddim which features Bajah, Jahdan Blakkamoore, and remixes from Ancient Astronauts, Stereotyp, Nate Mars, Frikstailers, and more! Stream the entire release below. Anthony B & Subatomic Sound “Dem Can’t Stop We From Talk” 12 remixes! Out TODAY on BEATPORT by SubatomicSound Last year, Subatomic teamed up with Sound Liberation Front to present  the Dub Invasion Festival, a 10-day music festival both Boston and New York which Dubspot was very proud to support. The festival featured live music, workshops, and documentary film screenings. We even hosted two incredible live streaming music production workshops with legendary producers Mad Professor and Adrian Sherwood.
