Q: What was your most memorable gig, good or bad?
A: There are too many to mention! A lot of amazing experiences.. Of course you can’t win all the time and there were some bad ones but usually it disappears from my memory. So all I remember are great (or at least good) gigs.
Q: Is there any gear that you’re currently lusting for and why?
A: Nothing at the moment. I have everything I need which are laptop and some soft synths.. Less is better:)
Q: What is your favorite piece of studio gear?
A: My laptop.I’m a producer without studio at the moment and this is the only gear I use to make music and/or do everything else.
Q: What tools and equipment did you use to create your latest Renaissance: The Masters Series?
A: Ableton Live and M-audio’s midi controller. On MacBook Pro. Pretty Basic setup… With a lot of thinking and ideas..
Q: If you need inspiration for composing, what do you do?
A: Listen to the music I like.. Electronic or not.. Doesn’t matter.. And if I hit the wall, staying away from what I am doing and come back in a few days..
Q: Where do you think the music industry will be in five years?
A: It will be still there..I hope :p I think something will stay the same even a lot changed, like live shows..live performance is the thing you have to be there to enjoy, there is something you can’t download over internet.
Q: Thanks to the Internet, the distance between fan and artist has become much closer, how are you currently interacting with your fan base?
A: Mostly via myspace page (satoshi_tomiie) and www.satoshitomiie.com. Announcing shows, mixshow, bio etc etc.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you ever received about the music industry?
A: Be true to yourself, don’t forget where you are coming from and don’t give it up easily.
Q: What would you do for a living if you couldn’t make music?
A: Ah.. If I couldn’t make music? I would PLAY music. LOL Well if I couldn’t play neither, I don’t know… Music is the only thing I know I am good at;)
Q: What¹s new on the horizon for you?
A: My new compilation on Renaissance is out, and my new single under Mes is scheduled on SAW.RECORDINGS along with the remix by Toby Tobias.. Really excited about it.
