Adrian Sherwood 2012 workshop for Dub Champions Festival at Dubspot

Sherwood & Pinch Live US debut | Monday 9/23 @ Cielo NYC

The workshop will directly precede the highly anticipated Dub Champions Festival closing night performance: the exclusive US debut of Sherwood & Pinch, a live electronic project that marries the traditional dub performance of UK dub legend Adrian Sherwood (On-U Sound) with Bristol dubstep pioneer Pinch (Tectonic). As the founding father of On-U Sound Records, Adrian Sherwood is both well known for his dub and reggae production, and his punk and industrial electronic production for Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Depeche Mode, Primal Scream, Tackhead, and Sinead O’Connor.

About Dub Champions Festival

After two years of groundbreaking events, Subatomic Sound once again presents Dub Champions Festival to celebrate dub with legendary artists from Jamaica and innovators from around the globe who push the style forward in electronic music, live bands, and beyond. The festival, now in its third year, takes place September 19-23, featuring shows and educational workshops by world-class performers including Lee “Scratch” Perry, Adrian Sherwood, Pinch, Addis Pablo, Daedelus and many others. NYC label Subatomic Sound began the mission three years ago with a week-long festival in New York City, and has since debuted the festival in Europe and plans to reach more countries in 2014. This year’s festival will include events in New York City, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia.

Dub Champions Festival is a five-day journey into the international musical phenomenon called “dub,” a style characterized by heavy bass, drums, and copious use of effects, where the producers become the artists and the mixing board becomes an instrument. Dub Champions Festival features live performances and education sessions to uniquely exhibit how the music is created, and how it has evolved from its roots in Jamaican reggae to becoming a cornerstone of remix culture and electronic bass music. Along the way, dub has redefined the role of the producer, inspired countless artists, and influenced genres including rap, punk, rock, and dance music. Dub Champions Festival was founded by Emch from Subatomic Sound, and has featured Scientist & The Roots Radics w/Johnny Osbourne performing their classic album Curse of the Vampires, Kode9, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Clive Chin, Jahtari’s Disrupt, Appleblim, Dr. Israel, Jahdan, and many more.
