Lorn (Brainfeeder) @ Dubspot – Maschine Workshop + Interview

We shot this video earlier this summer when Lorn along with Native Instruments specialist Josh Fielstra hosted a Maschine workshop at Dubspot with Brainfeeder artist/producer Lorn. We have a longer video of the workshop, performance, and interview dropping soon, but for now check out this teaser.  Lorn will join Certified NI host Thomas Faulds this Friday at Decibel Festival in Seattle for a workshop, exploring creative possibilities with Native Instruments Komplete 7!

Lorn also dropped an exclusive mix for Dubspot Podcast series (including an interview) while he was here. Check it out.

Lorn’s debut full-length album Nothing Else, released on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label, has stirred the minds of listeners and rattled the keyboards of critics around the world, accumulating praise from musical authorities such as Pitchfork and the BBC, as well as bloggers and the online underground alike. The Milwaukee-based producer hails from the future of music as do his Brainfeeder contemporaries, however this young artist also forges a connection between the current exploding beat scene and its roots in the experimental scratch community born many years ago.

Certified NI host Thomas Faulds takes us through the KOMPLETE 7, the latest version of the ultimate software collection from Native Instruments. Now bigger and better and featuring 24 KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects, this 90 GB package is bursting with more than 10,000 production-ready sounds for all styles and genres. KOMPLETE 7 features renowned flagship products like KONTAKT, GUITAR RIG and the redesigned REAKTOR 5.5 plus all-new instruments and effects from Native Instruments and brands like Abbey Road and Scarbee. Containing 24 groundbreaking and multi-award-winning samplers, synths, guitar/bass amps, instruments and creative effects, this collection represents Native Instruments’ essential software tools for musicians, producers and sound designers alike.

Thomas Faulds is a sound designer and percussionist based in Chicago, Illinois. Inspired by new technologies and production, Thomas is an active participant in the dynamic music scene in Chicago. Aside from recording and releasing albums, he works as an independent music tech consultant, teaching the inner workings of music production tools to students and professionals alike. Thomas believes in universal creative potential and actively introduces students to the vast creative possibilities afforded by modern music instruments.
