It’s about that time again. California’s Coachella Festival announced its 2011 lineup (kicking off the year’s Summer festival announcements) and the bill is quite massive! Of course the lineup is fraught with indie rock bands, from Arcade Fire and Interpol to The Strokes and Kings of Leon, but they didn’t forget to include some hip hop and R&B superstars including producer/rapper Kanye West, singer Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill. Dance music luminaries such as The Chemical Brothers and Paul Van Dyk will also make their appearance. But what we’re most excited about is the fresh crop of innovative electronic music producers and musicians on the bill, including burgeoning dubstep and future bass artists who rarely play shows in the States. So we’ve compiled a series of videos from these artists; check out sounds from the likes of Nosaj Thing, Mount Kimbie, SBTRKT, Kyle Hall, Roska, Mala, Kode9, and more below. I know we’re in the thick of winter, but start warming up; start planning your trip now.
The poster below has all the relevant information, but check Coachella for full details. The festival will take place at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California from Friday, April 15 to Sunday, April 17.
