The motivation behind organizing this show is simple – The devastating impacts of natural disasters in developing/under-developed countries require huge cost and time to restore normal life. The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean has estimated that Haiti needs $11.5 billion in investment over three years to recover from the earthquake. A solemn sense of the magnitude of the relief efforts that will be required to restore normal life in Haiti motivated a group of musicians and good Samaritans to produce a show to benefit earthquake victims in the nation of Haiti. It is now our turn to step up and contribute towards a great cause. Thanks to all the generous people in bringing this event together. We are looking forward to a great evening to raise funds to bring food, water, medicine and supplies to thousands of families in an earthquake-and-poverty-ravaged nation and present what will surely be one of the greatest high-bass electronic shows of the year in New York.
All profits of the event will be donated to the International Rescue Committee, which has relief teams on the ground in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. IRC is working with local aid groups to provide assistance to survivors, including food, shelter, and other necessary resources to thousands of families.
To get ready for the Bass Drive, we suggest you check out Dave Q along with Raz Mesinai AKA Badawi on Dubspot Radio & Podcast Series. Both producers played significant, respective roles in New York City’s electronic music scene –Raz has been composing and producing music for more than a decade operating at “the intersection of Dub and modern composition,” while Dave Q is the founder of NYC’s premier dubstep party Dub War. They both dropped individual, exclusive DJ sets for Dubspot Radio, with Dave Q playing super-rare, new garage, and dubstep beats and bass and unrecognizable sounds (defying simplistic categorization.) Badawi played a heavy set on Ableton. Also, listen to the interview with Dubspot Instructor Matt Shadetek – subscribe to Dubspot Radio & Podcast Series via iTunes.
