Dubspot Instructor and Ableton Certified Trainer, MC/producer-extraordinaire Thavius Beck explores the various parameters within Ableton Live’s Beat Repeat effect – in which you simply grab a piece of audio and make it repeat according to your gate setting. Here, he starts with two tracks playing – drum loop and guitar riff, but fades out the guitar and focuses on the drums, touching on parameters such as decay, pitch, pitch decay, gate, interval, off-set, pretty much everything, showing how you can get some interesting sounds out of the effect for producing and performing live.
Thanks to everyone who attended the free Ableton workshop in Los Angeles yesterday. Definitely come check out Thavius, along with Laura Escude, Steve Nalepa, Fabian Alsultany, and Free The Robots at King King – playing Dubspot LA: 2011 Showcase & Humane Society of the United States benefit in support of their efforts to assist animals affect by the Gulf oil spill.
